70 bags Govt cement seized

JAMMU, Apr 24: Police today seized 70 bags of Government cement issued from the office of BDO RS Pura, which was being used by a businessmen in construction of his house at village Chandu Chak in RS Pura.
Police have arrested the businessman Surjit Singh son of Karam Chand resident of Chandu Chak.
Police said 100 bags cement had been issued from the office of BDO RS Pura to contractor Vinod Choudhary son of Kartar Chand of RS Pura. However, the contractor had sold the cement to the businessman on cheaper rates.
The businessman had consumed 30 bags of cement in the construction while police seized remaining 70 bags and arrested Surjit Singh.
The contractor was absconding.
Police said the cement had been diverted to the businessman with active connivance of the staff of BDO RS Pura.
Police have registered a case at RS Pura police station for further investigations.
Police parties headed by SHO RS Pura Jaipal Sharma conducted the raid and seized the cement under the supervision of SDPO Devinder Singh.
