MENDHAR, Aug 26: The police seized 71 bags of CAPD ration which was being transported to a private shop at Nadol village in tehsil Mendhar late last evening.
The police also detained driver of the tractor trolley, Mohd Akbar on which the ration was being transported.
Sources said the ration was released in favour of Government ration dealer Mohd Hussain, resident of Kas Baladi. His son, Mohd Rafiq allegedly hired a tractor trolley of Mohd Akbar and asked him to shift the ration including 39 bags of rice, 26 bags of wheat and 7 bags of sugar to the shop of one Kafeel Ahmed, son of Khaliq Ahmed at Nadol village. The ration instead of being taken to ration depot, was being diverted to Kafeel’s Karyana shop.
A police party acting on a specific information intercepted the trolley and seized the ration. They also detained trolley driver Mohd Akbar. They said that Rafiq however, did not accompany the trolley and told the driver that he will join him later.
SHO Mendhar when contacted said that Storekeeper and TSO had been called and matter was being investigated. The dealer and shopkeeper were not available for questioning, he said.
SP Poonch Shamsheer Hussain said that a case FIR has been registered in this connection. He said the police has started investigation into the matter. The issue appeared to be suspicious. The police was looking for ration dealer and the trader as they were avoiding police. He said the TSO, Storekeeper and ration dealer have been asked to produce the papers. And if there is any separate order from Tehsildar for special supplies, as claimed by the CAPD officials, that has to be produced before the investigating agency. He however, said that things will be clear by tomorrow.
