75% students pass class 10 exams in Valley; girls outshine boys

17 students including 14 girls secure 100% marks

SRINAGAR, Feb 26: The Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) today declared the class 10 annual examination results of the Kashmir Division in which a total of 75 per cent students were declared successful with 17 students shared the first position by securing 100 per cent marks.
As per the Board officials, a total number of 75132 were enrolled for the exam, out of which 56384 students qualified the exam while as 18626 could not.
Out of 75132 students, 38340 were boys and 36792 girls. The pass percentage of the boys was recorded as 74.04 while 76.09 per cent of girl students were also able to qualify the exam this year.
Regarding those students who were able to secure 100 per cent marks, 14 girls were able to secure 500 marks out of 500, while as 4 boys were also able to secure 100 per cent marks.
Also, 73 students across Kashmir shared the second position with 498 marks and 13 students shared the third position with 497 marks.
As per the officials, 9421 students this year secured A1 Grade, 11347 A2 Grade, 11050 B1 Grade, 10974 secured B2 grade, 9239 C1 Grade, 4239 C2 Grade and 155 students out of those who appeared in the exam were able to secure D Grade.

One of the topper Tabasum Gulzar from Watlar, Ganderbal said that keeping her studies simple and working hard has made it possible for her to achieve the feat of securing 100 per cent marks.
“My preparation was simple. I was not under any pressure. I worked hard while my parents, as well as my teachers, helped me all the way through,” she said.
Another topper, Toiba Showkat of Radiant Public School in South Kashmir’s Anantnag who also secured 100 per cent marks said that despite the harsh time that Kashmir witnessed, the students have been able to give their best.
“My parents and my teachers have been very supportive. This year has been harsh due to COVID-19 and other things. We had to go for offline mode of studies due to the non-availability of high-speed internet that’s what turned out into a grand success,” she said.
The boys who have secured 100 per cent marks and shared the first position include Jazib Javeed bearing roll number 16155234, Saqib Raheem 17109220, Suhaib Ahmad Reshi 18188251, and Mohammad Saliq Bhat 18181206.
One of the toppers, Sakib Raheem from Shopian also credited his success to the continuous support of his family as well as the teacher, who, as per Sakib, were there for him at every point during the time he was preparing for the exam.
“My parents as well as the teachers supported me in achieving the feat. I am happy and my message to others would be to not stop working hard,” he said.
He, however, said that the 2G internet was a hurdle for him in preparing for the examination as he majorly relied on the offline mode of study.
Notably, on the other side, away from the media glare, a 17-year-old Tabia Iqbal-a specially-abled girl from Shangus, Nowgam area of Anantnag-also qualified class 10 exam with 452 out of 500 marks as she went of kicking away all the odds that came her way.
As per her father, she was born with a disability while both of her legs were crippled and has remained dependent on the wheelchair.
“She could never attend school since grade 3 and since then a teacher used to come home for her; I thank the Almighty for keeping intact her ability of reading and writing and that’s what has materialized in success today; all the credit goes to the school and the teachers there,” Peer Mohammad Iqbal said father of Tabia said.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old girl hailing from central Kashmir’s Budgam district tried to end her life by consuming poison after she came to know that she has not been able to qualify the class 10 exam. She was referred to SHMS from Sub District Hospital Chadoora where she is undergoing treatment and is still be stable.
Further, as per the details shared by the Board officials, the total number of students from the Government Schools that appeared in the class 10 exam across Kashmir districts was given out as 41026, out of which 25749, which is 62.76%, qualified the exam.
From the Private School of Kashmir, the figures state that 34106 appeared in the examination, out of which 30635, which is 89.82%, qualified the exam.
The district-wise data suggests that about the percentage of result in Government Schools, district Pulwama has had the highest percentage of 79.35 per cent of students passing the examination out of 1487 of the total appeared.
The lowest-performing has been district Ganderbal with the percentage of result recorded as 45.68 followed by Srinagar with a pass percentage of 54.00 per cent in the Government schools.
Regarding the percentage of result in Private Schools, district Shopian has been able to show the highest percentage of result with 94.18 per cent of students qualifying for the exam.
Also several Government schools have recorded zero pass percentage in the class 10 results.These schools include: Govt Boys High Rangteng Nawakadal Srinagar, Govt. High School Asnoor, Govt High School Zamboor Pattan Uri, Govt Sec. School Panar Bandipora, Govt Boys High School Gundishart Karnah, Govt High School Dandhmoha Chandoosa Baramulla, Govt. High School Narwara, Govt Boys High School K. G Mohalla Srinagar, Govt Boys High School Kalashpora Srinagar, Govt High School Wantrag Mattan, Govt. High School Sayedpora Sopore.
