JAMMU, Oct 2: Seventy-six more cases of dengue have been reported from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total number of cases so far this year to 1891.

A health official said that 260 people were screened yesterday for dengue in Jammu province out of which 76 turned out to be positive. Of the 76 positive cases, 48 cases were reported from Jammu district while 12 cases were reported from Samba, 7 from Udhampur, 3 each from Reasi and Ramban, 2 from Kathua and 1 from Doda district. The positive patients include 69 adults and 7 children, he added.
He said maximum 1235 cases reported so far are from Jammu district followed by Samba district with 209 cases and Kathua 176 cases. “There were 86 cases in Udhampur, 41 in Reasi, 38 in Rajouri, 37 in Poonch, 32 in Doda, 13 in Ramban, 3 in Kishtwar, 11 in Kashmir and 10 from other parts of the country,” the official said.
The official further informed that a total of 225 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospitals till date and of these, 155 have been discharged and 63 patients are still under treatment. “The dengue cases are rising with each day,” the official said, and advised that citizens should ensure no stagnation of water in and around their houses as mosquitoes responsible for dengue breed in stagnant water.
