UDHAMPUR, Aug 3: Police foiled major bovine smuggling bids under the jurisdiction of Police Station Chenani and Police Station Udhampur where 77 bovine animals were rescued.
Reports said that a Police naka party of Police Station Chenani, led by SHO Inspector Om Parkash, established a naka at Motorshed area and intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers JK14D-4248 and HR61A-4815.
During search, 50 bovine animals were found loaded in these trucks. The police team immediately seized the vehicles and rescued all the 50 bovines besides arresting both the drivers, identified Mohd Maroof son of Hussain Din of Gran Morh Reasi and Mohd Riyaz son of Mohd Bashir of Jallo Chak, Jammu.
In another success, the Police party of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Chaman Gorkha, intercepted one vehicle having registration number JK14F-0240 and rescued 27 bovine animals at Jakhani naka point.
All the 27 bovines were rescued and two smugglers namely Shabir Ahmed son of Mohd Saleem of Basantgarh and Rehmat Ali son of Sawar Din of Jhakhar Udhampur were arrested.
The overall drive was conducted under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Dr Vinod Kumar.
