SRINAGAR, June 25: Fortyfour new guests from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here while only six Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives separated in 1947.
Twentyseven returnees also crossed side on the LoC at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the border in Uri sector in north Kashmir, official sources said here today.
They said 44 PoK residents, including 16 women and nine children, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on the LoC on foot.
During their stay they will meet their relatives, separated during partition in 1947.
Sources said two Kashmiris, who had gone to PoK, also returned to their homes after completing their stay across the border.
However, only six Kashmiris, including two women and as many children, crossed over to PoK to meet their relatives, they said, adding 25 PoK residents also returned to their homes after completing their stay here. They included 10 women and a child.
The number of PoK guests increases during summer while it drops in winter because of severe cold here.
However, the number of Kashmiris crossing to other sides increases during winter. (UNI)
