78 more dengue cases reported

Jammu, Nov 10: The dengue outbreak in Jammu and Kashmir continues to escalate, with 78 new cases reported, bringing the total number of dengue cases this year to 5,747 across the Union Territory.
In Jammu district, 30 new cases were recorded yesterday, raising its total to 3,503. According to health officials, over 90% of these cases originate from municipal areas, highlighting the urban spread of the vector-borne disease.
Following Jammu, Samba district has reported 595 cases, Kathua has 547, Udhampur 298, Reasi 262, Rajouri 181, Doda 156, Poonch 63, Ramban 65, and Kishtwar 20. Additionally, 20 cases have been recorded from the Kashmir region, along with 37 local cases reported from other States and Union Territories.
So far, 30,419 patients have been tested for dengue in 2024, with 5,747 testing positive. Despite the rising number of cases, health officials have reported only one death attributed to the disease, indicating effective management of severe cases. Of the 78 cases reported yesterday, 67 were adults (38 males and 29 females), and 11 were children (5 males and 6 females).
Currently, 489 patients have been hospitalized due to dengue complications; of these, 400 have recovered and been discharged, while 77 remain under treatment across various hospitals in the Union Territory.
