SRINAGAR, June 06: The State Government is hosting two days 7th International Hydro Power Conference which will commence from June 11, 2012 here. The leading hydro power developers and technocrats from around the world as well as policy and decision makers are expected to participate in the Conference.
The conference is being organized by India TECH Foundation on “Harnessing Hydro Power in Northern Himalaya-Challenges and Opportunities”, with special focus on Jammu and Kashmir.
The conference would be inaugurated by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and it is expected that the Chief Ministers and Power Ministers of other States, besides senior officers of Power and Water Resources of Union Government would participate in the conference.
The participant delegates would deliberate on the topic and give their valuable suggestions and latest know how for harnessing hydro power potential.
In this regard, the Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmed Khan today chaired a high level officers meeting of civil and police departments, and discussed arrangements for smooth conduct of the conference.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, B.B. Vyas, Principal Secretary Power Development Department, Sudhanshu Pandey, ADGP,Security, Dr. Ram Lubhaya, Inspector General of Police Kashmir Range, S.M. Sahai, Managing Director, JKSPDC, Basharat Dhar, Secretary Cultural Academy, Khalid Bashir, Secretary PDD, Syed Altaf Hussain, Director State Motor Garages, . G.A. Sofi, besides senior officers of GAD, Home, Tourism, Hospitality & Protocol, PDD, PDC, Police Departments attended the meeting.
It was decided that Managing Director JKSPDC would be nodal officer who will keep close liaison with other departments for making all arrangements .
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that main objective for holding such a mega event is to explore possibilities for harnessing rich hydro power potential of the State.
