8 bovine animals rescued, 2 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, May 6: Udhampur Police today foiled a bovine smuggling bid under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur and rescued 8 animals, which were being transported to Kashmir valley in two different vehicles.
The vehicles were intercepted by Police party of PS Udhampur at Jakhani Naka. On physical checking, Police team found eight bovines loaded in the vehicles in a very cruel manner.
The Police team immediately seized the vehicles and arrested both the drivers, who were identified as Mashkoor Ahmed, son of Parveez Ahmed of Batote and Shoaib Ali, son of Mohd Billa of Majalta.
Case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case is in progress. The arrest and recoveries were made by SHO PS Udhampur, Insp Chaman Gorkha under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Sahil Mahajan.
