JAMMU, May 2: Two Kashmiri militants, their two Pakistani wives and four children, who were detained by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at Maharajaganj in Uttar Pradesh yesterday after they entered into the Indian territory from Nepal border, were today whisked away to JK CID Cell in New Delhi by the Intelligence agencies for questioning.
“Two Kashmiri ultras were involved in militants activities and now wanted to return to Jammu and Kashmir under the Rehabilitation Policy introduced by the State Government though they hadn’t taken the route prescribed under the Policy,’’ official sources said.
“The eight have been sent to the J-K cell in New Delhi from Maharajaganj with SSB jawans accompanying them. From there, the Central Intelligence agencies would take over their case,” sources said.
They said the two militants had left Kashmir in nineties and were “married and settled” in Muzaffarabad town in PoK after they shunned the militancy, which they had resorted to after arms training across the Line of Control (LoC).
They had yesterday crossed over into India from Nepal at the Sonouli border in Maharajaganj a bid to return to their home by taking advantage of the Rehabilitation Policy, sources said.
“They reached Kathmandu from Pakistan and from there had crossed over into India,” the official added.
Security personnel at the border detained them yesterday morning for not having documents about their identity.
