MENDHAR, Mar 26: Eight persons were injured, two of them seriously when members of two groups clashed over an old land dispute at Gursai Nalla in Mendhar Sub Division today.
The incident took place when Naib Tehsildar had gone there to settle the dispute between two families over two kanal of land at the village. He had not taken police protection with him. During meeting, both sides had heated exchanges, followed by bloody clash. Naib Tehsildar Mohd Kabir managed to escape from the spot.
Total eight persons were injured from both the groups led by Mohd Ishaq and Mohd Yunis. They were admitted to SDH Mendhar. Two of them were referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu. They were identified as Mohd Razak, son of Mohd Sadiq and Razak’s wife- Muneera Bi.
The police has registered counter FIRs in this connection. SDPO Mendhar, Shaid Nahiem said that Naib Tehsildar had not informed police and SHO Gursai rushed there only after he came to know about the clash. He said Naib Tehsildar will also be booked for the incident.
