8 injured in road accidents

RAJOURI, May 13: At least eight persons were injured in two separate accidents in Budhal and Mendhar area of Rajouri and Poonch districts this evening.
A police spokesman said that two persons were seriously injured after a brand new motor-cycle was hit by a water tanker at Kottan village on Mendhar-BG road this afternoon. The bike was thrown into a gorge with the impact of head on collision. The driver of the tanker Mohd Naseem sped away from the spot and escaped.
Both the bike riders, namely Javed Iqbal, son of Mohd Iqbal  and Sajjad Mirza, sons of Mohd Arif Mirza, residents of  Gohlad in Mendhar were removed from  gorge by locals and then shifted to Rajouri hospital with the help of police and family members. The police has registered a case in this connection.
Meanwhile, six members of  marriage party were injured after a Tata Magic vehicle (JK-11/8285)  rolled down the road at Badal Gali in Kotranka (Budhal) area of Rajouri this evening. The injured were shifted to local hospital. Condition of one Abdul Rashid, son of Jalal Din of Badal village, was said to be serious. He was later removed to district hospital.
