MENDHAR, June 13: At least eight persons were injured when a Van met with an accident at Uchhad in Mendhar area of Poonch district today.
Reports said a Maruti Van, bearing registration number JK02BF/ 5554 which was on its way to Mendhar from Sheindra met with an accident at Uchhad, leaving eight persons injured. The injured were taken to District Hospital Poonch and one among them was shifted to GMC Rajouri later.
Injured were identified as Rashida Bi (35), daughter of Abdul Majid’ Abdul Aziz (65), son of Ghulam Din; Abdul Majeed (53), son of Ghulam Mohd; Naik Bi (75), wife of Syed Mohd; Latifa Bi (52), wife of Abdul Aziz; Shamshad Bi (42), wife of Basharat Hussain; Abdul Rahim (48), son of Ghulam Din and Mohd Latief (55), son of Faiz Hussain, all residents of Shiendra in Surankote.
Abdul Rahim, one among the injured said that the accident happened due to brakes failure and driver moved the vehicle into the side drain on hill side and it turned turtle.
Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Poonch said, eight injured were brought to Hospital and one among them was referred to GMC Rajouri.
