8 kanal Govt land retrieved, 6 structures demolished

KATHUA, Feb 11: Tehsil Revenue authorities Dinga Amb, in a special drive launched against the land grabbers, retrieved about 8 kanals of  land and also demolished about half a dozen structures raised illegally on the Government land.
Official sources said that Tehsildar Dinga Amb, Ram Paul Sharma, assisted by Revenue staff and police launched operation on Tuesday and Wednesday and demolishing illegal structures raised on  the PWD and State land. About three kanal area near Tehsil Revenue office and about 4-5 kanal areas near Tarnah bridge at Sanyal village was also got retrieved. Despite some resistance, the revenue officials managed to clear some of the area under the illegal occupation of the people.
Tehsildar,  Dinga Amb when contacted said that after the matter came to his notice,  he asked concerned Patwaris, Girdawar and Naib Tehsildar  to procure relevant record and after proper demarcation, retrieve the land under the illegal occupation of the villagers. He disclosed that area under the illegal possession is not so large as projected. Some of the area was found to be owned by private persons. Some old record was not found to be properly maintained. The demarcation process is going on and all the encroachments on Government land will be cleared. He said nearly 3 kanal area near Revenue office and around 4-5 kanal area has been cleared near Sanyal bridge on the main road.
Mr Sharma further disclosed that he has created an anti-encroachment cell for the purpose and it has been fully activated. The remaining Govern-ment land under the illegal possession will also be got vacated. He said that eight notices have been served by this office till date to the persons illegally occupying Govt land and action under law is being initiated against them. He said that process of  identifying land for other offices at the tehsil headquarters was going on and appropriate land is needed for the purpose and moreover, the support of the local people is must.
