Were running terror modules while sitting across border

JAMMU, Sept 1:Doda Police today produced charge sheet against eight militants hailing from the district but now operating from Pakistan and PoJK under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in designated Fast Track NIA Court Doda.
Cases under UAPA have been registered against the militants in various Police Stations of Doda district for running terror modules even while sitting in Pakistan and PoJK to keep the militancy alive and lead to bloodshed of the people in the region at the behest of their Pakistan-based mentors.
SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom told the Excelsior that after completion of investigation in all respects and collecting sufficient evidence against the militants, the charge sheet was filed against them under Section 299 CrPC in the Fast Track NIA Court Doda for judicial determination.
“The militants operating from Pakistan and PoJK were in constant touch with local youth of Doda to join terrorism and carry out subversive activities to keep militancy alive in the district,” Qayoom said.
He added that Doda Police has made special efforts to tighten noose of the sympathizers, supporters and Over Ground Workers of the militants and other anti-social elements to ensure complete wipe out of militancy in the district.
The militants against whom charge sheet has been produced in the Fast Track NIA Court Doda include Mohd Amin alias Khubaib son of Dawood Batt, resident of Kathwa Phagsoo, Mohd Hussain Khateeb son of Abdul Hai Khateeb R/o Masjid Mohalla Bhaderwah, Zakir Hussain son of Abdul Rashid hailing from Draina Bhalla, Abdul Hai alias Tahir Bilal son of Ghulam Mohd, resident of Sazan Doda, Irshad Ahmed Itoo alias Idress son of Ghulam Ahmed Itoo R/o Dharnal Arnora, Atta Mohd alias Adil Mubashir son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Tanta Gandoh, Mohd Shafi alias Nadeem son of Ghulam Mohd, resident of Trankal and Majid Hussain alias Abu Jihad, resident of Manoie Gandoh.
The cases were registered against these militants at different police stations of the district for running terror module to keep the militancy alive.
The militants belonged to different outfits including Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) outfits among others.
“All of them had exfiltrated to Pakistan and PoJK over a period of time and are now operating from there masterminding terror activities in different parts of Jammu division mainly Doda and Kishtwar districts where they are trying to revive militancy by motivating local youth through their old contacts but have miserably failed,” the sources said.
Maximum 118 such terrorists hailed from Doda district, 96 from Ramban and 36 in Kishtwar, they said.
