UDHAMPUR, Feb 2: Police worked out eight theft cases with the arrest of seven persons and recovery of stolen items worth over Rs 4.50 lakh.
This was stated by Additional SP Udhampur Faisal Qureshi while interacting with media persons here.
He informed that based on frequent complaints from general public regarding repeated theft cases in Udhampur and its surrounding areas, a team under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kameshwar Puri and assisted by SHO Police Station Udhampur Inspector Sanjeev Gupta and SI Vishap Pratap Singh was directed to vigorously act under law against these burglars and ensure speedy disposal of all theft and burglary cases by bringing them to logical conclusion.
Accordingly, police teams started generating the intelligence, conducted raids at different suspected locations and interrogated number of suspects and habitual offenders and ultimately succeeded in solving 8 theft cases in the month of January with the arrest of seven persons and recovery of stolen property worth about Rs 4,68,000, Additi-onal SP stated.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mudassar Sheikh, son of Ghulam Qadir of Shiv Nagar, Udhampur, Rajni Devi, wife of Gian Chand of Bawetalab Jammu, Rohit Kumar, son of Parkash Nath of Bhutan Tehsil Katra, Rahul, son of Hans Raj of Pakhlai, at present Udhampur, Shiv Shankar, son of Goman Lal of Chattisgarh, at present near Birma Bridge, Udhampur, Mohammad Salim, son of Abdul Akrim of Ward Number 3, Udhampur and Gurvinder Kumar Bhatia, son of Shankar Dass Bhatia of Malarh, at present Battal Ballian Udhampur.
Directions have been given to the jurisdictional officers to professionally investigate all the cases to ensure justice to the aggrieved persons, Qureshi said, adding that police is also working on the involvement of above mentioned accused persons in some other theft cases as well.
