JAMMU, July 27: An eight-year-old female child died today due to drowning in an under-ground water tank in city outskirts.
According to police sources, the child identified as Baby daughter of Ranjeet, resident of UP (at present residing in a rented house in Upper Roop Nagar) got slipped in an underground water tank inside her house while playing, as the lid of the tank was open.
Noticing her fall into the water tank, her mother made hue and cry following which neighbours came for help and evicted the girl from the water tank. In unconscious condition, the child was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where doctors declared her as brought dead.
The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for postmortem while Janipur police had taken cognizance of the matter.
