8-yr-old girl among two killed in road accidents

JAMMU, June 20: Two persons including an eight-year-old girl died today in two separate road accidents occurred in city outskirts.
According to a police official, an eight-year-old girl namely Chahat Saini daughter of Nanak Singh, resident of Sarora (Akalpur), was hit this morning by a rashly driven bike near her residence. In the mishap, the girl received serious head injuries. She was immediately taken to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where doctors declared her as brought dead.
“After getting conducted postmortem, the body of the deceased girl was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites”, the police official said, adding, a case in this connection was registered at police station Domana and further investigations started.
Meanwhile, a speeding Verna car, which was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu, hit a bike bearing registration number JK021A-9631 at Ban Toll Plaza in Nagrota area, this evening. In the mishap, bike rider identified as Parshotam Puri (28) son of Gandharav Chand, resident of lower Roop Nagar, Janipur, Jammu, sustained injuries. He was immediately rushed to GMCH Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for the postmortem while a case in this connection was registered and the accused car driver was sent for medical checkup after arrest.
