UDHAMPUR, Apr 28: Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur Y P Bourney today awarded eight years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 25000 to Karnail Singh, son of Naseeb Singh of Ladda Moungri in District Udhampur for raping a deaf and dumb girl six years back.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Koshal Kotwal and counsel for the accused, the court was of the considered view that prosecution evidence was clear, cogent and consistent.
“keeping in mind the aggravating and mitigating circumstances of this case, the court awards eight years rigors imprisonment to the accused, who shall also pay a fine of Rs 25,000 for the commission of offence under Section 376 RPC. Accused shall further undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years and pay a fine of Rs 10,000 (ten thousand rupees) for the commission of offence under Section 452 RPC. Both the sentences shall run concurrently. Out of the fine amount, if realized 25,000 shall be paid to the victim as compensation,” ruled the court.
