SAMBA, Jun 27: A four-hectare prime property adjacent to Jammu-Pathankot National Highway was retrieved during a special anti-encroachment drive in Ghagwal area of Samba district here, today, an official spokesman said.
The anti encroachment drive was carried out by the Samba district administration under the supervision of District Magistrate, Rohit Khajuria at Ghagwal village, the spokesman said.
He said a joint team of civilian officers along with police headed by Ghagwal Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Ram Kesh Sharma, Naib tehsildar and SHO Ghagwal, Kuldeep Raj dismantled a house and other structures over the encroached Government land during the two-hour long drive.
The authorities put a JCB into service to dismantle the structures and free the State land from the clutches of encroachers.
The retrieved land is worth crore of rupees, he said.
