80 logs of Khair wood seized

KATHUA, June 6: At least eighty logs of newly felled Khair wood were seized by Forest team from Budhi area of Kathua today.
Official sources said that acting on a specific information a Forest team from Kathua, led by Range Officer Subash Chander, under the supervision of DFO Kathua Ashwani Kumar rushed to the village and found nearly 80 logs of green Khair wood dumped in the private land near forest. The Forest team also found stems in the area from where these trees had been fallen.
The DFO and Ranger contacted Naib Tehsildar and Patwari concerned who claimed that they have never given any such permission of felling these trees. The villager had fallen these trees without joint inspection by the Revenue and Forest teams. The DFO seized the Khair wood and registered a case against the farmer, who was absconding.
