JAMMU, Mar 9: Under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority, National Lok Adalats were held in all the courts across the State including both wings of the High Court of J&K.
The National Lok Adalat was held under the guidance and supervision of Justice Gita Mittal, Chief Justice High Court J&K, Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority and under the guidance of Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge High Court of J&K and Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority.
Mohammad Akram Chowdhary, Member Secretary, J&K State Legal Services Authority disclosed that the Lok Adalat was organized in all the three divisions-Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, out of a total number of 12772 cases taken up by 116 benches in the day long Lok Adalat at various courts across the State, 8015 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 18,78,39,432 approximately was awarded as compensation/settlement amount in civil, criminal, labour disputes, electricity and water bills, land acquisition, family matters, cheque dishonour and bank recovery cases.
JAMMU: On the directions of National Legal Services Authority and J&K State Legal Services Authority, a National Lok Adalat was organized by District Legal Services Authority Jammu in District Court Complex Janipur, today under the chairmanship of Vinod Chatterji Koul, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Jammu and overall supervision of Naushad Ahmed Khan Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Jammu.
A total number of nine benches were constituted at District Court Complex, Jammu. The first bench was presided over by Vinod Chatterji Koul, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Jammu and assisted by Nighat Sultana, Additional District Judge, Bank Cases, Jammu. The second Bench was presided over by Haq Nawaz Zargar, 3rd Additional District and Sessions Judge, TADA/POTA Jammu and assisted by Tasleem Arief, Additional Sessions Judge, Anti-Corruption Jammu. The third Bench was headed by Jatinder Singh Jamwal MACT Jammu and assisted by Virinder Singh Bhau, 2nd Additional District and Sessions Judge Jammu. The fourth bench comprised of Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jammu and assisted by Madhu Khajuria, 2nd Additional Munsiff Jammu. The fifth bench was headed by Pawan Sharma, Sub Judge, Jammu and assisted by Arti Devi, Munsiff JMIC Jammu. The sixth bench was headed by Sh. Wangial Tsering, Forest Magistrate Jammu and assisted by Deepali Kapoor, Retainer Lawyer DLSA Jammu. The seventh bench was presided over by Yahya Firdous Ahangar, Special Railway Magistrate, Jammu and assisted by Manjeet Rai, Special Mobile Magistrate P&T Jammu and Sumit Bhat, Retainer Lawyer, DLSA Jammu. The eighth bench was headed over by Naushad Ahmad Khan, Sub-Judge, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Jammu and assisted by Zeeshan Ahmad Chauhan, Retainer Lawyer, TLSC Jammu. The ninth bench comprised of Manoj Parihar (Special Municipal Magistrate) Jammu assisted by Slahuddin Ahmed Additional Mobile Magistrate, Traffic, Jammu and Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu.
A total number of 1813 cases were taken up out of which 1609 cases have been decided. A total of Rs 66,050,399 was settled in the Lok Adalat.
Lok Adalat benches were also constituted at Tehsil Headquarters at Akhnoor, Bishnah and RS Pura which were presided over by respective Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committees.
UDHAMPUR: A National Lok Adalat, organized by District Legal Services Authority, held at District Court Complex here. In the National Lok Adalat, total of 6 benches were constituted. The first bench comprised of Sanjay Parihar Principal District and Sessions Judge Udhampur , CL Bavoria Additional District and Session Judge Udhampur and Anil Kumar Goyal (Advocate) while the second bench comprised of Sandeep Kour Secretary (Sub Judge) District Legal Services Authority Udhampur, Ramesh Lal Sub Judge Special Mobile Magistrate Udhampur and JD Salathia Bar President.
Bench number 3 comprised of Ajay Kumar District Mobile Magistrate (Traffic) Udhampur, Junaid Mir Munsiff JMIC Udhampur and Advocate Shivani Mahajan, fourth bench comprised of Archana Charak Sub-Judge Ramnagar and KD Sharman Retainer Lawyer, fifth bench comprised of Anjana Rajput, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Incharge Munsiff Majalta and Advocate Mohan Lal Gupta and sixth bench comprised of Smati Sharma Munsiff JMIC Chenani.
A total of 552 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which 284 cases were settled on the spot. An amount of Rs 9,4,14,000 was awarded as compensation in MACT cases while a total of Rs 45,600 was realized in various bank cases. Besides, fine amounting Rs 7,98,967 was realized in respect of various criminal compoundable cases.
REASI: District Legal Services Authority under the chairmanship of Kamlesh Pandit Principal District and Sessions Judge, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi organized National Lok Adalat on directions of State Legal Services Authority today. In National Lok Adalat 424 cases of different nature were taken up and 170 cases were settled and settlement amount of Rs 6089661 was awarded. The Lok Adalat was presided over by Kamlesh Pandit Principal District and Sessions Judge, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi.
Three benches for settling the referred cases were constituted. First bench of Lok Adalat was presided over by Kamlesh Pandit, District Judge Reasi who was assisted by KK Dubey Advocate, second bench was presided over by Anjum Ara, Sub Judge, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Reasi, who was assisted by Rimpi Rani, Munsiff Reasi and third bench was presided over by Sandeep Gandotra Sub-Judge Katra and was assisted by Sandeep Padha Advocate.
POONCH: A National Lok Adalat was organized today in district courts here under the chairmanship of Zabair Ahmed Raza Principal District and Sessions Judge Poonch. At District HQ, two benches were constituted. First bench was presided over by Zabair Ahmad Raza Principal District and Sessions Judge Poonch and assisted by Rajinder Singh (Advocate) Poonch. Second bench was presided over by Som Lal Special Mobile Magistrate Poonch and assisted by Wajahat Hussain Kazmi District Mobile Magistrate (T) Poonch. At Surankote, the bench was presided over by Ashan-ul-Haq Malik Sub-Judge and assisted by Sarfraz Nawaz Qureshi Additional Mobile Magistrate Surankote Poonch.
A total of 468 cases were taken up, out of which 444 cases were settled. In MACT, 3 cases were settled, 38 criminal cases, 8 civil cases were also decided and total amount settled was Rs 1712720.
BHADERWAH: District Legal Services Authority organized National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of District and Sessions Judge Bhaderwah Pawan Dev Kotwal. Sub Judge Bhaderwah Reenu Dogra Gupta and Munsiff Bhaderwah Mudasir Farooq were also present on the occasion. Five benches were constituted. A total of 156 cases were taken up out of which 80 cases were disposed and an amount of Rs 56,67, 900- was settled in the MACT cases, bank recovery and other criminal compoundable cases.
SAMBA: National Lok Adalat was held in District Court Complex under the chairmanship of MK Sharma, Chairman DLSA, Principal District and Sessions Judge Samba. Three benches were constituted. The first bench was headed by ML Sharma Chairman DLSA and assisted by SK Khanmotra Advocate, while the second bench was headed by Swati Gupta, Secretary DLSA and was assisted by Jyoti Bhagat, Additional Munsiff Samba and third bench was headed by Shabnam Sheikh Munsiff Samba and was assisted by Sumit Gupta Retainer Lawyer and Sunaina Gupta Advocate. A total of 301 cases were taken up, out of which 258 cases were disposed off amicably and an amount of Rs 51,43,251 was settled.
KATHUA: National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of Sanjeev Gupta, Chairman DLSA Kathua. Two benches were constituted on the occasion. The first bench comprised of Sanjeev Gupta, Principal District and Sessions Judge and was assisted by Aarti Mohan Secretary DLSA, while the second bench comprised of Munish Kumar Manhas District Mobile Magistrate Kathua and Preet Simran Kour, Munsiff JMIC Kathua. The Lok Adalats were also held in TLSC Hiranagar, Billawar, Basholi and Bani. A total of 434 cases were taken up out of which 286 cases were settled.
RAJOURI: National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex under the chairmanship of Shahzad Azeem, Principal District and Sessions Judge Rajouri. On the occasion, three benches were constituted. The first bench was headed by Shahzad Azeem, Principal District and Sessions Judge and was assisted by MH Mirza Advocate, the second bench was headed by Riaz-ul-Haq Mirza CJM Rajouri and was assisted by Vinod Kumar District Special Mobile Magistrate and third bench was headed by Tehsildar Rajouri and was assisted by Junaid Hussain Choudhary Advocate. Similar benches were also constituted at tehsil level courts, which were headed by the presiding officers of the respective courts. A total of 542 cases were taken up, out of which 354 cases were settled. An amount of Rs 6119860 was settled. 20 MACT cases were taken up, out of which 17 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 60,15000 was awarded as compensation.
Ramban: a National Lok Adalat was held today under the Chairmanship of Principal District & Sessions Judge K.S. Parihar, who is also the Chairman District Legal Services Authority Ramban.
Two Benches were constituted at District Court Complex Ramban. One bench each for Batote, Gool, Banihal and Ukhral was also constituted. A total of 1151 cases were taken up of which 271 cases were disposed off.
An amount of Rs. 96,04,464 was released as compensation and fine.
SRINAGAR: National Lok Adalat was organized by District Legal Services Authority Srinagar under the Chairmanship of Addl. District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, Parvaiz Hussain Kachroo at District Court Complex Moominabad Srinagar.
The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Additional District and Sessions Judge in presence of Presiding Officer MACT Court Srinagar Subash Chandar Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate Ajaz Ahmad Khan, Spl. Mobile Magistrate Railways 13th TFC Parvaiz Iqbal, Forest Magistrate M Rafiq Chak, Municipal Magistrate Yashpal Sharma, PT&E Magistrate Umi Kulsum, Special Mobile Magistrate (Traffic) Gowhar Majeed Dalal besides several others.
On the occasion, eight benches were constituted for taking up different types of cases. The benches took up 2085 cases out of which 1663 cases were amicably settled on the spot and total settlement amount of Rs 1,21,33,250 was realized.
ANANTNAG: National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex, Anantnag under the under the chairmanship of Mohammad Ashraf Malik Principal District and Sessions Judge, Anantnag.
Six Benches were constituted for holding the said National Lok-Adalat at the District headquarter as well as in its subordinate courts of the District. 570 cases related to recover suits, MACT, Electricity cases, Civil and Matrimonial cases were taken up in the said National Lok Adalat out of which 178 cases were amicably settled. Total settlement amount in all the settled cases including MACT cases in the today’s National Lok-Adalat is Rs 4420600.
HANDWARA: National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Chief Judicial Magistrate Sunil Sangra (Chairman TLSA) Handwara at court complex today. The Adalat was organised by Tehsil Legal Services Committees Handwara, during which100 cases of various natures including criminal, bank cases, MACT cases, matrimonial, electricity and water bills, revenue and other cases were taken up duiring the NLA for their settlement. As many as 26 cases /disputes were examined and settled on spot amicably and Rs 35800 recovered as award.
SHOPIAN: National Lok Adalat was held in the premises of district court complex Shopian under the chairmanship of District Legal Services Authority Shopian Ashok Kumar Shavan Principal District and Session Judge Shopian. During the proceedings, eleven benches were constituted for taking up cases of matrimonial act, land acquisition, criminal compound able, electricity bills, bank recovery etc.
In the Lok Adalat, 271 cases of different nature including pre-litigation were taken up, out of which 148 cases were settled by mediation and reconciliation. An amount of Rs 64950 has been recovered as fine and same has been deposited in government treasury. An amount of Rs 208000 was recovered from defaulters in bank recovery cases. Besides that, an amount of Rs 304250 was also realized in different cases, which was paid to the beneficiaries.
PULWAMA: National Lok Adalat was held in the court premises of District Court Complex Pulwama under the chairmanship of Principal and Session Judge Mohammad Ibraiem Wani, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Pulwama.
KULGAM: National Lok Adalat was organized today in District court complex Kulgam, under the chairmanship of District Legal Services Authority Kulgam (Principal District and Sessions Judge). Three benches were constituted, two at headquarter and one at DH Pora. All the benches were headed by judicial officers and staff members.
In the Adalat, 332 cases were taken up, out of which 178 cases were amicably settled and an award of Rs 75100 was passed in favour of victims in MACT cases and an amount of Rs 67050 was realized in different cases of electricity bills, water bills etc. Similarly an amount of Rs 67050 was imposed as fine in criminal RPC challan and traffic challan.
BUDGAM: National Lok Adalat was held today in district court complex Budgam and its subordinate courts. Different types of cases were taken up and maximum number of cases were settled amicably. An amount of rupees Rs 94,3300 were also recovered in bank cases.
BARAMULLA: National Lok Adalat was organised by District Legal Service Authority Baramulla under the chairmanship of District Principal and Sessions Judge Baramulla, Rajeesh Shekri whereas at Tehsil levels, it was organised by the respective Tehsil Legal Service Committees.
The National Lok Adalats comprising of 10 different benches took as many as 1567 cases, of varied natures, among which 1102 cases were settled amicably on the spot. Moreover Rs 1,80,57,058 was realized as settlement amount. Similarly, another National lok Adalat was organized in the premises of Tehsil Court Complex Uri under the chairmanship of Sub-judge Uri Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, who is also the Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Authority. As many as 88 cases of various natures were taken up in which 30 cases were settled amicably on the spot besides Rs 15.39 lakh was realized as settlement amount.
