81 bovines rescued, 2 arrested

RAMBAN, June 14: Ramban police today rescued 81 bovine smugglers from the clutches of two suspected bovine smugglers.
A surprise naka was laid at Shan Palace and Nashri on Jammu-Srinager NHW today. During checking near Shan Palace one truck bearing registration number JK14-6555 was intercepted. On search, the vehicle was found loaded with 23 bovine animals.
During checking at Nashri (Batote), one truck bearing registration number JK03C-9009 was intercepted and found loaded with 28 bovine animals.
Meanwhile, Ramsoo police laid a naka near police station. During checking, one truck bearing registration number JK14B-0496 was intercepted and on search the vehicle was found loaded with 30 bovine animals.
All the bovine animals were rescued and in the process, two suspected bovine smugglers namely Riaz Ahmed son of Mubarak Ali, resident of Darsheepora (Banihal) and Akram Hussain son of Mir Hussain, resident of Jar Karimchi (Udhampur), were taken into custody. All the vehicles involved were also seized.
In this regard, cases FIR No 136/2019, 53/2019 and 54/2019 under Sections 188 RPC, 3PC Act stand registered against the accused persons at police stations Ramban, Batote and Ramsoo, respectively and investigation started to ascertain the source and other persons involved in the crime.
