82 bovines rescued, 5 vehicles seized

JAMMU, Mar 15: Police rescued 82 bovine animals and seized 5 vehicles used for their illegal transportation.
“To curb the bovine smuggling menace, several nakas were in the areas under the jurisdictions of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and Police Station Nagrota,” a police official said while adding that 82 bovine animals were rescued from five vehicles.
He said 76 bovine animals were rescued at Suketar naka from three different vehicles bearing registration numbers JK03D-7802, JK03C-9009 and JK02BR-9717 while 6 bovine animals were rescued from two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK19-6947 and JK19-3224 at Ban toll plaza naka.
In this regard, cognizance was taken by Police Station Jhajjar Kotli as well as Police Station Nagrota and seven persons including drivers of the vehicles were arrested. The arrested persons were identified as Jaguan Shah son of Mohd Iqbal Shah of Chamalwas (Banihal), Altaf Hussain Choker son of Mohd Rafiq of Manzmoh Dooru (Anantnag), Mumtaz Ahmed son of Pervaiz Ahmed of Doda, Mohd Rafiq son of Abdul Rashid of Doda, Saidullah Khan son of Mangta Khan of Doda, Mohd Iqbal son of Mirza Ali of Batote and Ab Latif son of Ab Rashid of Doda.
The operation was done under the overall supervision of SDPO Nagrota Pardeep Kumar and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
