83 WSS under execution in Nowshera: Padder

JAMMU, Mar 20: Minister of State for Public Health Engineering and I&FC, Abdul Majid Padder, while replying to a question by Sofi Yousuf said that the erosion occurred due to heavy flow of water in Nallah Lidder from Langasbal to Srigufawara due to floods of September, 2014.
The minister said, for construction of protection bunds on Nallah Lidder, a Detailed Project Report amounting to Rs. 16.56 crore for Lidder Nallah under Flood Management Programme (FMP) was prepared and approved under 8th Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). He said the revised DPR shall be submitted to GoI during the next financial year for consideration.
The Minister said that DPR under permanent restoration of breached spots to the tune of Rs. 286 lakh has been framed. He said some vulnerable spots have already been restored under temporary restoration at an estimated cost of Rs. 293.37 lakh.
In reply to another question of Surinder Choudhary, Mr. Padder said that despite best efforts, the department is not in a position to lift the required quantity of water mainly because of power problems in Nowshera-Sunderbani Assembly segments. He said that 83 water supply schemes have been implemented in Nowshera constituency so far, besides, work on 3 filtration plants at Bari-Pattan, Kaisian and Dandani is in progress and 2 filtration plants at Bhawani and Chowarian Sunderbani shall start soon.
The minister further added that allotment of 4 Dug-wells at Hanjana, Kaisi Nallah, Bagnoti, Dandesar stands allotted and work shall start soon.
With regard to status of Bari-Pattan Water Supply Scheme, the minister said that the estimated cost of the schemes Rs. 179.48 lakh while as funds to the tune of Rs. 20 lakh were released during 2014-15. Out of which Rs. 12.81 lakh has been incurred till February, 2015.
Mr Padder said that cumulative expenditure on March 2014 has been worked out at Rs. 74.24 lakh. He said that 80% civil work of filtration plant, 75% of Rising Main and 30% of distribution has been completed while as balance work shall be completed.
