RAMBAN, June 1: The 84 Battalion of CRPF here today celebrated its 39th Raising Day at its Tactical Headquarters in Chanderkote.
A handout stated that since 2010, the Battalion has been deployed in J&K and it is playing a crucial role in securing NH 44 for over a 46 km stretch in Udhampur and Ramban Districts.
The Raising Day celebrations commenced with Sarv Dharm Prathna at Sarv Dharm Prathna Sthal.
This was followed by a homage ceremony where battalion personnel paid respects to their fallen comrades who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
A new flag was ceremoniously hoisted at the Quarter Guard and the Commandant received the Guard of Honour.
In his address during Sainik Sammelan, Battalion Commandant, N. Ranbir Singh urged everyone to uphold the values and dedication that symbolize the 84 Bn CRPF, and the nation.
The unit personnel also planted 200 saplings around the campus. A blood donation drive was also held in collaboration with District Hospital Ramban, where 20 officers and Jawans voluntarily donated blood.
Preceding the Raising Day, a Mela was organized featuring various food stalls offering diverse cuisines from different regions of India.
The day concluded with a grand cultural evening, highlighted by performances from the unit personnel. Rubeena Begum, a CRPF Veer Naari from Maitra Ramban, was felicitated during the function.
Certificates and prizes were awarded to blood donors and winners of various competitions.
