84 bovines rescued, 8 smugglers held

JAMMU, Oct 11: Police today rescued 84 bovine animals and arrested 8 smugglers in three different incidents.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Talab Tillo police post led by SI Vikrant Singh under the supervision of SHO Jai Pal Sharma laid a naka at Puran Nagar and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK14A-5419.
During checking, police recovered 20 bovine animals and arrested the driver of the vehicle, who has been identified as Mohammad Sharif of Patoli Brahmana.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Talab Tillo Police Post and investigation started.
Meanwhile, police party from Pul Doda Police Post rescued 52 bovine animals and arrested seven smugglers. Three trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AF-1583, JK02AG-9295 and JK02AK-8867 used in bovines smuggling were also seized, he added.
A case under FIR number 283/13 has been registered at Police Station Doda and investigation started.
Police party from Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station also laid a naka at Rangura and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02l-2983. During checking, police recovered 12 bovine animals, he added.
A case under FIR number 91/13 and under Section 336, 353, 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station and manhunt has been launched to arrest the smuggler, who managed to fled from the spot.
