SRINAGAR: The Amarnath yatra is going on smoothly from Baltal and Nunwan base camps as 8611 yatris paid obeisance at the Holy Amarnath cave shrine, where so far over 1.27 lakh yatris had darshan of the self made Ice-Shivlingam since the commencement of the 48-day-long pilgrimage from July 2.
Meanwhile, Governor N N Vohra, who is the chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), has convened a high level meeting tomorrow to review various issues relating to the yatra.
No Amarnath pilgrim was allowed to proceed from Jammu to Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps in Kashmir, as authorities have suspended yatra traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway for security reasons, following strike call by separatists for two more days from today in protest against the killing of civilians in security force firing in the valley yesterday.
Similarly, yatries at Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps have not been allowed to leave for Jammu.
An official spokesperson here tonight said on the ninth day of Amarnath Yatra-2016, 8,611 yatris paid obeisance at the Holy Cave.
“Till date 1,27,358 yatris had darshan of the self made Ice-Shivlingam since the commencement of the 48-day-long pilgrimage from July 2,” he said.(Agencies)
