87 bovines being smuggled to Kashmir seized, 4 held

RAJOURI, May 8: The police seized 87 bovine animals being smuggled to Kashmir via Mughal Road during special naka  in Thannamandi area last mid- night and arrested four smugglers.
Sources said that Thannamandi Police party acting on some inputs laid a nakka in Manyal Gali area on Thannamandi-Bafliaz-Mughal Road  last night and intercepted about half a dozen persons carrying 87 bovine animals toward Kashmir. Four persons were nabbed while two of them managed to escape.
The police rescued a total 87 bovine animals from their possession. These animals had to be loaded in trucks which had already gone ahead on this road to avoid two police nakas in Thannamandi area.  The smugglers have devised modus operandi to cross nakas by carrying animals on-foot from the alternative Kucha tracks just to give slip to police.
The police arrested four persons who were identified as Bashir Ahmed, son of Mohd Hussain; Khadam Hussain, son of Dil Mohd and Mohd Yasir, son of Mohd Sharief, residents of  Hasplot in Thannamandi and Mukhtar, son of Munshi Khan, resident of Trala in Kandi. A case FIR has been registered against them. This is the biggest seizure of  milch  animals on Mughal Road after the opening of this highway recently.
