JAMMU, May 13: Lakhanpur police seized 88 quintal polythene bags, which were being illegally traded from Punjab to Jammu.
Police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Lakhanpur Police Station and sleuths of Excise Department laid a naka at Basholi Morh and intercepted a truck bearing registration No JK02AE 4801.
“During checking, police seized 88 quintal polythene bags, which were being illegally smuggled from Transport Nagar Delhi to MP Enterprises, Lakhdata Bazaar, Jammu”, he added.
He said that the driver namely Sham Lal, son of Dhana Ram and conductor Kamal Kumar, son of Sat Pal, both resident of Mahi Chak, Kathua, were arrested, spokesman said, adding, that the consignment was handed over to Sale Tax Department and Pollution Control Board for further necessary action.
Meanwhile, police party from Nagri Police Post conducted raid at village Jakhbar and arrested two persons namely Arjun, son of Mangu Ram of Jakhbar and Mangal, son of Baba of Chak Drab Khan Kullian and recovered working still and 20 litres illicit liquor from their possession.
A case under FIR No 170/12 stands registered at Kathua Police Station against the duo.
