89 bovines rescued by Kathua, Samba police

KATHUA, Feb 21: Kathua police rescued 68 bovine animals during last two days by foiling four bovine smuggling bids while the Samba police rescued 21 bovine animals today at Tapyal.
While 51 bovines were rescued by Kathua police yesterday, 17 animals were rescued today under the jurisdiction Lakhanpur Police Station (PS) in the district.
Police said a team of PS Lakhanpur under the supervision of SHO, Arvind Sambyal intercepted a truck bearing registration number, PB02CC-0054 which was being driven by Sukhvinder Singh, son of Tarseem Singh of Taragarh tehsil and district Amritsar and accompanied by  Kuldeep Singh, son of Major Singh of Raipur Kalan, tehsil and district, Amritsar.
On checking of the vehicle, 17 bovines were found loaded in it without permission.
The vehicle was seized and both the accused were arrested, police said.
Police said a team of Police Station, Lakhanpur yesterday conducted a naka checking in its jurisdictional area and intercepted one suspicious truck bearing registration number PB10GK-5003 and rescued 19 bovines.
Foiling another bovine smuggling bid a team of PS Lakhanpur intercepted another truck bearing registration number JK02BR-9717 and rescued 20 bovines.
Another bovine smuggling was foiled by Police Station Lakhanpur yesterday in its jurisdictional area and 12 bovines were seized on the spot making a total of 51 bovines in the day. FIRs were registered in all case at PS Lakhanpur under relevant sections of law.
Meanwhile, Samba police foiled an attempt to smuggle bovine in the jurisdiction of Police Station, Ghagwal by rescuing 21 bovines at naka NHW, Tapyal.
Acting on reliable information regarding smuggling of bovines towards Valley, a police party of PS Ghagwal stopped a truck bearing registration number, JK02CC-7043 coming from Kathua side and heading towards Valley. However, the driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped from spot taking advantage of darkness.
During checking of the vehicle, 21 cattle were rescued from the truck and the vehicle was seized. A case was registered in this regard in the Ghagwal PS under relevant sections of the law.
