JAMMU, July 5: Police in Jammu’s Akhnoor Town claimed today that they have arrested one person besides seizing 8 litres of illicit liquor from his possession and destroying 200 litres of lahan he had made on-the-spot.
A police spokesperson said that acting on precise information received during routine patrol led by SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Lal Sharma, assisted by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, a raid was conducted at the suspected location.
As a result, the team was able to apprehend one suspect who was found engaged in the production and sale of illicit liquor, he said.
During the search operation, he further said that 8 litres of illicit liquor was recovered and 200 litres of lahan was destroyed on-the-spot.
Police identified the arrested individuals as Darshan Lal of Sarwan Palouri, Akhnoor. He has been booked in case FIR number 188/2023 registered under sections 48-a, 48-e, and 48-f of the Excise Act at Akhnoor Police Station and further investigation taken up.
Further investigation is on, said the police spokesperson.
