9 bovines rescued, 4 smuggler arrested

RAJOURI, Apr 22: Police today foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling at Thannamandi area and rescued nine bovines besides arresting four smugglers.
A Police team led by SHO Thannamandi Mohd Hilal Azhar, under the supervision of SDPO Thannamandi Dr Imtiaz Ahmed, conducted surprise naka checking at Thannamandi and intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle, bearing registration number JK11E-5722 and a Tata Magic bearing registration number JK11F-1512.
The vehicles were found carrying bovine animals, which were being smuggled to Kashmir valley without valid permission.
Police rescued the bovines and arrested four smugglers, who were identified as Nazir Ahmed son of Mohd Imran of village Plangarh Thannamandi, Ghulam Hussain, son of Mohd Din of Dodasan Bala Tehsil Thannamandi, Zahoor Ahmed son of Abdul Rahim of Khablan and Mohd Zaffer son of Ghulam Mohd of Manyal Tehsil Thannamandi.
Police seized both the vehicles and registered two case FIRs Under Section 188 IPC, r/w 11/PCA Act at Police Station Thannamandi.
