9 bovines rescued, smuggler arrested

UDHAMPUR, Dec 20: Police foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling at Tikri and arrested the alleged smuggler besides rescuing the animals.
Police team of Police Post Tikri intercepted a Bolero Pick- up, bearing registration number JK02DH-9409 and during checking, nine bovines were found ladden inside the vehicle. These bovines were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally to Kashmir without any valid permission.
Police rescued the bovines and arrested driver of the vehicle, identified as Hanief, son of Saraj Din of Raipura Jagir Jammu.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 253/2024 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal and further investigation is in progress.
