MENDHAR, Feb 15: Nine cattle were charred to death while nearly two dozen chicken roasted alive as a cattle shed and a portion of house got burnt in a fire incident at village Darana near Mendhar town last night.
A police spokesman said that the incident took place last mid night in the house of one Mohd Rashid, son of Ghulam Mohammad at village Darana. The family raised alarm after it came to know about the fire incident. The neighbours also rushed towards the site.
They informed Fire Station and Police Station at Mendhar. The fire tender started fire fighting operation but nine cattle including a buffalo, some goats had already been killed. Three buffaloes could be saved but they received several burn injuries. Nearly two dozen chicken were also roasted alive. Adjoining room of the house also received extensive damage.
The police said that short circuit is believed to be the reason behind the accident. However, a case has been registered on the complaint of the family as they have alleged some sabotage. Investigation has been started.
