9-day long Navratra festival culminates with immersion of Saakh in rivers

JAMMU, Oct 10: The nine -day long Navratra festival culminated today with immersion of Saakh in various rivers by the devotees in different parts of Jammu region.
All the temples were agog with festivities during the Navratra festival where hundreds of devotees visited during these days to pay obeisance to Goddess Durga. However the heavy rush remained on the occasion of Durga Ashtami yesterday and Mahanavmi today.
In Jammu main rush remained at Bawe Wali Mata temple where the bee line of devotees was seen daily during morning hours who used to come from different parts of city to pay obeisance to deity.
However the heavy rush of devotees in the holy temple was seen yesterday and today. In addition to it Maha Yagyas were also performed in various temples and Ashrams on the occasion of Mahanavmi today in which a large number of devotees participated. They were served prashad after Puranahuti. Bhandaras were also organized in different areas by the devotees on the culmination of Navratra festival.
Heavy rush of devotees was seen at the Bikram Chowk on Tawi Bank,  Harkipori near Bagh-e-Bahu,  Rajinder Park canal, Shakti Nagar, Paloura, Muthi, Barnai, Patoli as well as on the bank of river Chander Bagha (Chenab) in Akhnoor where people were seen busy from early in the morning in  immersion of Saakh.
Devotees were seen taking out big processions reciting Bhajan and Kirtan towards Akhnoor from different places of Jammu to immerse Saakh in river Chenab.
Reports reaching here said over two lakh pilgrims paid obeisance at holy temple of Chechi Mata in Samba during the Navratra festival while 24,000 devotees visited the temple on the occasion of Mahanavmi today.
Reports said from five to six lakh pilgrims visited various temples in Kathua district during the festival period. Out of them 2.50 lakh pilgrims alone visited Jodha Wali Mata shrine Bani while 50,000 paid obeisance at Sukhrala Mata temple Billawar during festival period.
Reports said two lakh pilgrims paid obeisance at Jasrota temple Kathua during the festival days while 12,000 pilgrims thronged the temple today only. Besides, 30,000 pilgrims paid obeisance at Balasunderi Shrine Kot at Billawar, 50,000 pilgrims thronged the Bala Sundri shrine Nagri Parole during the festival period and one lakh pilgrims visited Ashapuri temple Kathua during the Navratra days.
In connection with Navratra festival, the ten day long spiritual activities culminated at Bhagawaan Gopinath Ashram Udaywala Bohri which was organized by Bhagawaan Gopinath Trust.
Hundreds of devotees thronged the Ashram during the festival period and participated in the spiritual activities with true devotion and humility during the morning hours daily to invoke the blessings of Mother Goddess.
A Maha Yagya was also performed in the Ashram which started yesterday and culminated with Puranahuti today. This was followed by serving of prashad to devotees.
Durga Puja Hawan was also performed at Bhagwan Gopinathji Ashram Kharyar in Habba Kadal locality in Srinagar today where prayers were offered for world peace.
Devotees in large number thronged the Ashram and offered prayers on the last day of Navratra today. Hundreds of devotees who thronged the Ashram from early in the morning paid obeisance under the lotus feet of master. A Maha Yagya was also performed and devotees recited Bhajan Kirtan.
The nine day long Navratra festival also culminated at Swami Kumar Ji Maharaj Geeta Satsang Ashram Muthi with Kanya Pujan and immersion of Saakh. The series of hawans were performed in the Ashram during the festival period to please the Goddess Shakti during these days.
Swami Kumar Ji threw light on the nine manifestations of Goddess. A large number of devotees attended the Ashram during festival period and participated in the religious function.
Pushkara Swami Sewa Ashram Trust celebrated Navratra festival at Laxmipuram Chinore, Bantalab and Najaf Ghar Delhi. Large number of devotees attended these programs daily. Swami Kumar Ji of Geeta Satsang Ashram gave religious discourses.  A procession was also taken out to immerse the Saakh in Ranbir canal.
The nine day long Durga Puja culminated at Sharika Peeth Sanastha Koushur Bhawan Subash Nagar Jammu with a  Maha Yagya. Hundreds of devotees participated in the function  and after Puranahuti they were served with the prashad.
Special prayers were held for the universal peace and brotherhood in the temple premises under the supervision of president of Sanastha, M K Jalali.
