JAMMU, May 21: Akhnoor police arrested nine gamblers and recovered Rs 17,200 bet money and playing cards.
As per police sources, a team from Akhnoor police station arrested four gamblers along with Rs 10,500 stake money and playing cards.
The arrested gamblers have been identified as Ranjeet Singh, son of Baldev Singh and Romeshwar Singh, son of Naseb Singh, both residents of Pacca Danga Akhnoor, Vikram Singh, son of Roshan Singh of Rama Colony Akhnoor and Romesh Chander, son of Suraj Parkash of Mawa Karora Akhnoor.
Meanwhile, Akhnoor police also arrested five persons along with Rs 6700 stake money and playing cards.
The accused have been identified as Sikinder Kumar, son of Roshan Lal, Vikramjeet, son of Chaman Lal, Sohan Singh, son of Rashpaul Singh and Jeevan Singh, son of Janak Sibgh, both residents of Khodewala and Rajeev Sharma, son of Raj Kumar of Ghura Jagir.
Cases under Section 13 Gambling Act have been registered against them at Akhnoor police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Pushpinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Munish Anand and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
