9 hurt in Mendhar road accident

POONCH, Apr 10: A major road accident occurred this morning in the Kottan area of Mendhar Sub Division in Poonch district, where a Tata Sumo vehicle went out of control and crashed, leaving nine passengers injured, including seven women.
Following the mishap, local residents immediately rushed to the spot and helped evacuate the injured to Sub District Hospital, Mendhar, where all are undergoing treatment. Block Medical Officer Mendhar Dr Ashfaq Ahmed  confirmed that the condition of all injured persons is being closely monitored and necessary Medical aid is being provided.
The injured have been identified as Rehana (18), daughter of Zaffer Iqbal; Rifat Naz (22), daughter of Mahfooz Hussain; Afsana Kouser (26), wife of Wahied Ahmed; and Aliza Mahroof (19), daughter of Mahroof – all residents of Dhargloon; Izal Mustafa (3 months), daughter of Mustafa Ahmed; Najama Mukhtar (25), wife of Mohd Mustafa; Badra Begum (60), wife of Mohd Gayas; Mohd Mahfooz Khan (30), son of Mohd Tai; and Mohd Taj (65), son of Mandi Khan – all residents of Balakote.
Preliminary reports suggest that the accident occurred due to the driver losing control of the vehicle. Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the matter.
