9 hurt in Tata Sumo-Army truck collision

RAJOURI, Sept 20:  Nine persons were injured, four of them seriously when an Army truck met head on collision with a Tata Sumo near Nowshera, on Jammu-Poonch highway this afternoon.
Reports said the accident took place at around 1.30 pm when the Sumo No. JK-12/3161 was on way to Jammu from  Poonch. The Army truck loaded with canteen items was on way to Rajouri. Both the vehicles crashed head-on-collision at a sharp curve near Rajal, about 2 kms from Nowshera bridge.
Immediately after the mishap police party from Nowshera rushed to the spot. The locals also moved to the spot and rescued the injured persons. They were then shifted to Nowshera Hospital.  Four of them were further referred to Govt Medical College Hospital, Jammu for the specialized treatment. They have been identified as Mohd Israr, son of Mohd Rashid, resident of  Mendhar, Sohana, wife of  Zafar Iqbal, resident of Poonch, Ishfaq Ahmed from Gursai and Saveez Mehmood, daughter of Mehmood Khan of Bafliaz.
Five injured admitted to Sub-District Hospital, Nowshera are identified as Sarnwaz, son of Abdul Rashid of Bafliaz,  Mukhtar Ahmed, son of Mohd Azam  of Surankote, Mohd Mohseen, son of Mohd Yousuf of Poonch, Mohd Momeen, son of Mohd Nasib of Bafliaz and Mohd Aamir, son of  Mohd Ameen of Poonch.  The police seized both the vehicles and took drivers of both the vehicles in custody.  A case has been registered in this connection.
