SRINAGAR, July 17: Nine people were injured after a Tata Mini bus rolled down into Lidder River at Sukhdas in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday.
The bus (JK03A 4954) was on its way to Sallar from Anantnag town when slab of Sukhdus Bridge suddenly collapsed.
Station House Officer (SHO) Srigufwara, Bashir Ahmad, said the passengers were immediately removed to hospital by locals and police for treatment. “None of them is seriously injured,” he said, adding all the persons are stable.
Soon after the incident, the locals accused Roads and Buildings (R&B) of negligence and alleged that they used substandard material during the construction of collapsed bridge.
They said the bridge was also damaged during floods but authorities didn’t bother to repair it.
