POONCH, June 19: Property worth crores was damaged as nine shops were totally gutted along with goods at Loran town of Mandi in Poonch district last night.
Official sources said that fire broke out from one of the shops at Bus Stand, Loran during mid night and then it engulfed eight other adjoining shops. As there is no Fire Station at Loran, the people and police rushed to control the fire but due to massive fire flames they could not help to control it.
A fire tender from Mandi reached late at the site, but the shops had alreaded converted into ashes. There was strong resentment among the people, who pelted stone on the tender. DySP Haq Nawaz reached the site and controlled the situation. The police has taken cognizance of the matter but the cause of fire was not yet known.
