Srinagar, June 15: Police cracked down on the illegal mining of minerals in Palhallan, north Kashmir, today by seizing 9 vehicles and arresting their drivers.
According to authorities, a police team under the supervision of SDPO Pattan, assisted by IC PP Palhallan, seized 9 vehicles (tippers) and arrested 9 drivers.
The drivers have been identified as Abdul Rashid Lone, son of Mohd Sabir, resident of Shiva Sopore; Nazir Ahmad Ganie, son of Mohd Abdullah, resident of Gantamulla Payeen; Afeer Ahmad Bhat, son of Nazir Ahmad, resident of Mujgund Srinagar; Nazir Ahmad Reshi, son of Habibullah, resident of Hardu Shiva Sopore; Tariq Ahmad Lone, son of Gh Mohd; Mudasir Farooq Mir, son of Farooq Ahmad; Rayees Ahmad Geelani, son of Gh Mohiuddin, all residents of Batangi Boniyar; Rayees Ahmad Malik, son of Mohd Sultan, resident of Tujar Sharief Sopore; and Gh Nabi Sheikh, son of Ab Aziz, resident of Jawand Nowshera.
“They were found involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, and accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan, and investigation has been initiated,” police said.
