900 kg banned polythene seized at Jammu Rly Station

JAMMU, Mar 27: Railway commercial authorities today seized 900 kgs of banned single use polythene bags at Jammu Railway Station.
Information was received to Commercial authorities at Jammu about some suspected contraband material in SLR space of 12471 train (Swaraj Exppress). Acting swiftly, the Railway authorities thoroughly checked the train on arrival at Jammu, during which the contraband material in 39 bags was seized.
The seized material was immediately handed over by the Railway authorities to Jammu Municipal authorities. While handing over the seized material, Director Jammu Station Uchit Singhal was himself present along with Commercial Inspector Parshottam Singh and Sanitary Inspector Schem Mattoo.
Speaking on the occasion, Uchit Singhal said that Railways is very serious to check the transport of any contraband material in the luggage-parcel space and action is being taken immediately on any instance of such information if so received.
