As per rough estimates, a total of as many as 900 posts of doctors and specialists are needed in the Health sector in Jammu division. These additional hands if provided could result in the smooth functioning of the Hospitals and Health centres in Jammu division. This number includes even those vacancies created due to the retirement and other reasons which are not being filled .
Due to this shortage of the doctors, the facilities in the hospitals look not to the satisfaction of the needy patients and their attendants. Merely by adding more hospitals, super specialties etc without equipping those with the required doctors and specialists makes no sense. The government must pay its preferred attention to this problem.
