JAMMU, July 25: Nearly 9000 pilgrims drawn from different parts of the country paid obeisance to naturally formed Ice Shivlingam in holy cave of Shri Amarnath Ji in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on the 27th day of pilgrimage today while a fresh batch of 3089 pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas towards twin base camps of Nunwan Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal-Sonamarg in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district under tight security measures early this morning in a cavalcade of 106 vehicles.

Officials said 8946 pilgrims paid obeisance at holy cave by this evening from twin tracks of Baltal and Chandanwari besides special chopper services. They included 5437 males, 2014 females, 135 children, 144 Sadhus, three transgender and 1213 service providers and security personnel.
With this, a total number of 4,35,559 pilgrims have visited the cave shrine in last 27 days. Majority of these pilgrims have returned to their home States while others are on the way, officials said.
They said the pilgrims who performed darshan at cave shrine today also returned towards the Baltal base camp and Panchtarni halting camp by this evening.
Officials said that the weather remained dry during the day and yatra proceeded smoothly from both the tracks.
They said the pilgrims who had reached twin base camps yesterday started their onwards sojourn towards cave shrine early this morning.
Meanwhile, among 3089 pilgrims who left for twin base camps to Kashmir valley early this morning from here included 2247 males, 745 females, 73 Sadhus, 22 Sadhvis and two transgender. Among them, 1286 preferred the shortest and tough terrain Baltal track while 1803 opted for the traditional and longest Nunwan Chandanwari route. All these pilgrims have reached to their respective base camps by this evening wherefrom they will proceed towards holy cave early tomorrow morning.
