96 smokers fined

SRINAGAR, June 10: Ninety six persons were fined by anti-tobacco team of police for smoking on public places and a fine of Rs 9,600 was recovered from them, police today said.
The team also challaned those shopkeepers selling tobacco outside educational institutions in violation of Section 5 of the anti-tobacco Act (COTPA-2003), police said.
The team was headed by police and comprised a Food Safety Officer, Srinagar, volunteers from J&K Voluntary Health Association (JKVHA) and it inspected various places around Lal Chowk.
