975 GOs, over 60000 police personnel, 254 JOs trained on New Criminal Laws in J&K

Translation work completed in Dogri, Urdu and Kashmiri languages

JAMMU, Apr 2: A total of 975 Gazetted Officers (GOs), over 60000 police personnel, and 254 Judicial Officers (JOs) have been trained on the New Criminal Laws so far in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Besides, 191 Master Trainers under the Training of Trainers (ToT) program and 118 personnel have been trained at National Forensic Science University (NFSU) Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
This information was shared in the Lok Sabha on April 1 by Nityanand Rai, the Union Minister of State (MoS) in the Ministry of Home Affairs, in reply to an unstarred question of BJP MP from Arunachal Pradesh, Tapir Gao, regarding the measures taken by the Government to ensure the full implementation of the three New Criminal Laws in the UT by April 2025.
“Regular training on three New Criminal Laws is provided. So far, 975 Gazetted Officers, 60, 890 police personnel under the Jammu and Kashmir Police and 254 Judicial Officers have been trained.
“Additionally, 191 Master Trainers under the Training of Trainers (ToT) program and 118 personnel have been trained at NFSU, Gandhinagar,” the Union Minister told the Lok Sabha.
“J&K Police also use the iGoT Karmayogi platform, with 50,984 personnel onboard, completing 1, 21, 000 courses, including 1, 10, 773 on New Criminal Laws,” added the Union MoS Home.
He said several other measures have been taken to ensure the full implementation of the three New Criminal Laws. Among them are formation of a Steering Committee under the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir and an Empowered Committee under the Director General of the Police.
Training programs at the Police Academy, Police Training Institutes, District Police Lines, and Battalion Training Centres are among the other programs being undertaken to popularise the new laws, he said.
The Union Minister further informed the Lower House of the Parliament that the translation work of the New Criminal Laws in Urdu, Dogri, and Kashmiri languages has also been completed in the UT.
He said the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with other departments of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, is also organising joint awareness programs at all the 282 blocks in the second and fourth week of every month.
“All the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) patches including e-Sakshya for the IOs of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, sending of e-summons/ SMS/emails have also been made functional in the UT,” he said.
“All the required rules, notifications and Administrative orders in respect of three Criminal Laws have also been issued,” he added.
To monitor the implementation of the New Criminal Laws, the Union Minister said review meetings are being held fortnightly by the Chief Secretary and weekly by the Principal Secretary (Home), DGP, and other top police officials.
