DDCs of 5 distts asked to engage staff nurses in DHs applying for DNB courses

JAMMU, July 18: Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM), J&K, Bhupinder Kumar has asked District Development Commissioners/Chairpersons of District Health Societies of Kulgam, Ganderbal, Shopian, Reasi and Baramulla districts to hire/engage additional contractual manpower (Staff Nurses) under NHM in District Hospitals/Institutions applying for DNB Courses.
In a communique to DDCs, the NHM Director said that Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under State programme Implementation Plan of NHM 2020-21 has approved additional 42 posts of Staff Nurses each for DH Kulgam, DH Ganderbal, DH Reasi, CHC Sopore and 21 posts for DH Shopian.
“Subsequently, these posts were approved by the Executive Committee, State Health Society of the institutions, which have applied for DNB courses to NBE,” Kumar said to DDCs in the communique and requested them to engage the Staff Nurses against the vacant posts under NHM as per the permissibility of 2020-21 and the financial guidelines/norms of NHM.
The NHM Director said that the hiring of the registered GNM Nurses shall be done against the sanctioned posts by the respective District Health Society under rules by constituting an appropriate selection committee. “During the selection, districts should accord preference to the candidates from their respective districts. However, in case of non-availability of candidates, the districts can select the candidates from other districts,” he added.
He further said that after selection, one nurse out of the total pool of nurses available in the hospital, should be deputed for per 6 beds in Indoor Wards in each shift and similarly one nurse each should be deputed for per OT and per 2 beds in ICU in each shift.
