UDHAMPUR, July 18: Aggrieved over non repair of the 52 year old wooden bridge in Lander Pancheri area, locals held a strong protest demonstration against the Public Works Department (PWD) and the district administration Udhampur today.
The agitating people raised slogans against the Public Works Department (PWD) and district administration Udhampur for their failure in renovation of the bridge. They were demanding immediate repair of the damaged bridge.
This wooden bridge, constructed over Painthli nallah by PWD way back in 1965, is the foot link between Sesli Darang (Panchari) and Thalua Kotla (Lander). It serves as only link between Panchari and Lander regions of district Udhampur.
However, it has been damaged now and poses serious threat to the safety of over 30 thousand people.
Hundreds of students of Government Higher Secondary School Panchari, patients rushing to Primary Health Canter (PHC) Panchari, senior citizens and general public have no other alternative but to cross through this damaged bridge.
