Jammu, July 18: The Civil Engineering Department of Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology in collaboration with Ultratech Cement organized four days Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Innovation and Research in Concrete Industry ( IRCI-2020 )”.
More than 400 faculty members from J&K, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, U.P., West Bengal, Punjab, Orissa, Rajasthan and Bihar etc. participated. Faculty not only from India but also from abroad ( 2 from Bangladesh and 1 from Iran ) attended the programme.
To meet the challenges posed by COVID-19 and minimize the impact of pandemic on academic activities Prof. ( Dr.) A. K. Srivastava, Director, YCET conceived the idea of four days Faculty Development Programme on IRCI for sharing the best practices of IRCI and capacity building of all faculty members across the country. This FDP was third of its kind in the series during lockdown and was conducted using Google Meet.
The welcome address was given by Rajnish Magotra, HoD, Civil Engineering Department and also the convenor of FDP. He thanked all the participants, resource persons, special guest Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, Senior Professor & HoD, Civil Engineering Department., Govt. College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu for their gracious presence.
The introductory talk was given by Coordinator Kamal Kishore. Dr. Sanjeev Gupta appreciated YCET management and dedicated well qualified staff and said that FDP will facilitate researchers, practitioners and businesses executives to share their expertise and knowledge with participants.
The first session was chaired by Vybhav Gupta, General Manager, Ultratech Cement ( Technical Service ). He addressed about “Development in Concrete”.
The special guest was Amit Bhagat, Technical Head ( J&k,H.P ), Ultratech Cement. He appreciated the initiative of FDP during lockdown and stressed upon the best digital platform to make a strong bond of faculties, researchers, experts with Ultratech Cement. The morning session was chaired by Abhishek Arya, Associate Prof., Department of Civil Engineering, JIET, Jodhpur. He addressed about ” Properties of Concrete”.
The afternoon session was chaired by Prof. ( Dr. ) Anoop Kumar Srivastava, Director,YCET, Jammu. He addressed about “Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Construction Industry” and mentioned that rapid growth in AI will outperform human being in next 20 years.
All the sessions were very interactive and useful. e-Certificates were provided to all the participants. Coordinator Kamal Kishore provided technical support and gave vote of thanks. The management of YCET thanked the resource persons and inspired the organising team and appreciated the efforts for conducting online Faculty Development Programmes during lockdown period.
